Hardware and Software for AGVs and AMRs from SEW-EURODRIVE
Modular technology system for mobile solutions

With its modular solutions for mobile systems, SEW-EURODRIVE offers innovative, tried-and-tested hardware and software modules from a single source. This modular system supports customers who want to expand their portfolio or gain a foothold on the market for mobile solutions.

Modular technology system makes it possible to create mobile solutions

SEW‑EURODRIVE manufactures high-quality, innovative technologies for mobile systems and has many years of application expertise in this area. This is particularly beneficial for suppliers and operators of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), as well as for companies wishing to add AGVs and AMRs to their material handling technology portfolio. The SEW‑EURODRIVE modular technology system for mobile solutions is based on proven, optimally coordinated components and modules that enable parameterizable and qualified functions and automation solutions.

SEW‑EURODRIVE’s ELV (Extra Low Voltage) drive concept for mobile systems offers system-solution-optimized travel drives with protective extra-low voltage. The unique nested design paves the way for a compact vehicle width, coaxially arranged wheel axes, and use of the geometrical centre of the vehicle. Not having planetary gear units simplifies maintenance and reduces operating costs.

What’s more, this robust solution boasts an impressive service life that makes the travel drives a reliable and sustainable choice. Users also have the option of an output shaft fitted with an encoder and a brake. Customer-specific wheels are possible, too. The integrated gear units cover a wide gear ratio range and are available in a number of different sizes. The entire drive unit has a high level of efficiency and is fully integrated into SEW‑EURODRIVE’s MOVI‑C® portfolio.

All the software modules required for executable control programs are available for the various functions and applications of bidirectional and omnidirectional vehicle types. They include, for example, specially adapted kinematics modules for the drive train to achieve excellent travel accuracies on a vector-controlled basis (x, y, ω kinematic model).

The safety functions, such as the automatic generation of safety and warning zones based on parameters, are supported by Windows applications. The safety controller utilizes software modules to calculate current travel profiles, consisting of travel speed and direction of travel, by means of inverse kinematics using standard rotary encoders. Even with omnidirectional vehicles, this makes it possible to switch the warning and safety zones dynamically – when cornering, for instance.
