The Type 3 safety light curtains PSENopt II from Pilz are the world’s first light curtain with approval from the global test organisation Underwriters Laboratories (UL), with its headquarters in Northbrook, USA. Certification confirms that the safety light curtains meet national safety standards in the USA and Canada. This is a benefit to machine builders, particularly if they export into these markets.

Type 3 PSENopt II safety light curtains have successfully undergone the certification process of UL, a world-leading safety science company. UL certification supports companies and users as they launch their products and systems on to the North American market. Local customers benefit because commissioning can be carried out more quickly.

The only units for Type 3 applications since 2016

The Type 3 safety light curtains PSENopt II were launched back in 2016 as the world’s first in this category and easily allow the implementation of Performance Level d (PL d) applications. Ultimately this saves costs as there is no need to oversize.

Unique worldwide, including against shock

The safety light curtain product range PSENopt II ensures that it is safe to intervene in the production process. Depending on the requirement, PSENopt II safety light curtains provide finger, hand and body protection in accordance with EN/IEC 61496- 1/-2 “Safety of machinery – Electro-sensitive protective equipment”. What’s more, safety light curtains from Pilz are the only light curtains on the market equipped with a shock resistance of 50 g. As such, the extremely shock-resistant light curtains are ideal for rugged industrial environments. They provide productive safety, particularly in robot applications as well as on packaging machines and presses. So PSENopt II units offer increased flexibility in terms of their point of use.

ln conjunction with control technology from Pilz – for example the safe configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 – safety light curtains PSENopt II represent a safe, economical and complete solution for all industries and application areas.
