Orbex Group Now Offers Two Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) Solutions

Orbex Group announces its 700 Series of fiber optic rotary joint (FORJ) assemblies, supporting either single- or multi-mode operation with options for wavelengths of 1310 or 1550 nanometers.

Both the 1310- and 1550-nanometer options feature an outer diameter of 7 millimeters for installation in tight spaces. Additionally, each FORJ assembly features an insertion loss of less than 2 decibels and a return loss greater than 30 decibels — making them ideal for high-speed digital transmissions over long distances. Orbex FORJs support Ethernet, low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) or high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) protocols.

The FORJs are constructed of durable materials, including a stainless steel housing to ensure they perform well over their life cycle of over 200 million revolutions. For further environmental resistance, they are rated for both MIL-STD-810G impact force and MIL-STD-167-1A vibration protection.

Users can implement Orbex FORJs in areas with electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to their EMI immunity. The 700 Series is also IP67-protected and can withstand a temperature range of -40 to 80 degrees Celsius, allowing units to stand up to deep-ocean or arctic conditions.

The FORJs feature a fiber bend radius of over 25 millimeters and support a maximum operating speed of 2,000 revolutions per minute. Units are UL Certified and meet APQP4WIND/Mil standard qualifications. Ideal applications include marine cable reels, wind turbines, robotics and high-definition video transmission.
